The theme of the workshop was Creating Awareness on Child rights, Protection Issues and Processes of Changing Existing Community and Traditional Practices that are Inimical to the Well-being of Children in Contemporary Society. The workshop was sponsored by United Nations Children Emergency Fund (UNICEF) and was organized by Institute of Research Advocacy and Training (INSRAT). The workshop brought National Council of Women traditional Leaders (NCWTL), Youth Ambassadors for Peace and Service (YAPS) and other youth associations, History Teachers Association – Ghana, other women traditional leaders and representatives of various government agencies and organizations.
The aim of the workshop was to create awareness and to sensitize participants on child rights and protection issues. It was also to equip them with the requisite knowledge and skills as advocates to spearhead the process of changing existing community traditional practices that are inimical to the well-being of children in contemporary society.
The workshop took place at the Meaglent hotel at Pantang junction from the 12th to the 16th of October, 2015. The participants were fifty in number and were resident of the hotel. The facilitator of the workshop was Cecilia Anderson, an Executive coordinator of Global Children Action Network. The Chairperson was Mrs. Elizabeth Akpalu.
